The book titled “Kensho: Senso Sekinin” was published as a two-volume hardcover in Japanese by Chuokoron Shinsha Inc. in 2006. It was authored by the Yomiuri Shimbun War Responsibility Reexamination Committee. The hardcover had combined sales of more than 95,000. In 2009, it was added to the lineup of Chuko Bunko, paperback books published by Chuokoron Shinsha.
The English version, entitled “From Marco Polo Bridge to Pearl Harbor: WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE?” was published in December 2006. It was edited by Vanderbilt University Prof. James Auer, a scholar on U.S. military and international history. In 2007, the Nippon Foundation chose this book as one of the “100 books for understanding contemporary Japan” and donated the book to 566 research institutes and libraries in 98 countries around the world by the year 2012.
The Chinese version was published in July 2007 and sold in China by Xinhua Publishing House, a publishing unit of Xinhua News Agency.
